Automatic Bone Surface Restoration for Markerless Computer-Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery

چکیده
Abstract An automatic markerless knee tracking and registration algorithm has been proposed in the literature to avoid marker insertion required by conventional computer-assisted surgery, resulting a shorter less invasive surgical workflow. However, such an considers intact femur geometry only. The bone surface modification is inevitable due intra-operative intervention. mismatched correspondences will degrade reliability of registered target pose. To solve this problem, work supervised deep neural network automatically restore processed bone. was trained on synthetic dataset that consists real depth captures model leg simulated realistic cutting. According evaluation both data real-time captures, quality can be effectively improved reconstruction. improvement accuracy only evident over test data, indicating need for future enhancement network.

Computer assisted orthopaedic surgery -- CAOS.
The use of computer navigation in orthopedic surgery allows for real time intraoperative feedback resulting in higher precision of bone cuts, better alignment of implants and extremities, easier fracture reductions, less radiation and better documentation than what is possible in classical orthopaedic procedures. There is no need for direct and repeated visualization of many anatomical landmark...

These are just a few representative applications of the synergistic use of computer and robotic technology assisting the orthopaedic surgeon. While the individual systems are certain to change over time, the basic principles of correlating radiographic and anatomic data through a registration process, and displaying additional instrument or implant information through smart tools and surgical n...

Various systems of computer-assisted orthopaedic surgery (CAOS) in total hip arthroplasty (THA) were reviewed. The first clinically applied system was an active robotic system (ROBODOC), which performed femoral implant cavity preparation as programmed preoperatively. Several reports on cementless THA with ROBODOC showed better stem alignment and less variance in limb-length inequality on radiog...
